SWCS PBIAA is excited to announce fully funded places on a variety of  semiconductor short courses in partnership with the Cardiff University Professional Development Unit. These online and in person courses, created by Cardiff University academics in collaboration with industry partners from the CSconnected cluster,  are ideal for those:

  • working in the semiconductor sector who wish to up-skill their knowledge of compound semiconductor electronics
  • employees of the CSconnected cluster and their supply chain partners
  • people who are  looking to re-train into the semiconductor/ compound semiconductor sector
  • A-level and undergraduate level students studying science subjects who are potentially interested in a career in the semiconductor/ compound semiconductor sector
  • who supporting the sector – such as public sector employees, secondary school/ FE College teachers/ careers advisors/ youth influencers

Cleanroom protocols (online)
What it’s like to work in a cleanroom environment, including working practices.

Introduction to compound semiconductor photonics (online)
An overview of CS photonics and its practical applications.

Introduction to compound semiconductor electronics: part 1 (online)
An overview of CS electronics and its practical applications.

Introduction to compound semiconductor electronics: part 2 (in-person)
An in-person, practical workshop that builds on the content of the online course.

Introduction to etching for semiconductor manufacturing (in-person)
Gain a theoretical understanding of wet and dry etching.

Funding

To qualify for a fully funded place on these courses  you need to be 18 or older and either live or work in the Cardiff Capital Region or the Swansea Bay City Deal Region.* To see if you qualify for funding please click here
