You might need a Standard Visitor visa to participate in a conference in the UK. This visa is intended for individuals traveling for business purposes, including attending events, as well as for tourists visiting family and friends or seeking medical treatment.

The requirements for obtaining a Standard Visitor visa can differ based on your country of citizenship, the duration of your stay, and the reason for your visit. You may be required to present proof of the conference you plan to attend, along with evidence showing you can support yourself during your visit.

The conferences team is pleased to provide a supporting letter for those who need a visa. To request this letter, please email jamesk14@cardiff.ac.uk with your title, full name, and address. Note that letters will only be issued to delegates who have completed their registration fee payment.

If you are from a visa-exempt country, such as the United States or Canada, you may enter the UK for business purposes without a visa for stays of up to six months. For more details, please visit https://www.gov.uk/standard-visitor/visit-on-business.
