In a significant boost for skills development in the UK’s rapidly growing semiconductor sector, PBIAA has announced an expansion of its funding criteria, making selected training programmes fully funded for all UK residents aged 18 and over.
The initiative opens up wider access to specialist education designed to support both upskilling professionals and individuals seeking to reskill into the semiconductor industry. Delivered by Cardiff University’s Professional Development Unit and developed in partnership with CSconnected, the courses aim to address critical skills gaps and strengthen the UK’s position in this strategically important technology field.
The newly accessible training covers a broad range of semiconductor disciplines, including Semiconductor Electronics, Photonics, Cleanroom Protocols, Etching, Wire Bonding, and an introduction to the Semiconductor Supply Chain. These courses provide practical and industry-relevant knowledge, aligning closely with employer needs across the sector.
With demand for semiconductor expertise continuing to rise, the expanded funding represents a timely opportunity for individuals to gain in-demand technical skills at no cost. It also reinforces ongoing efforts to build a strong, future-ready workforce capable of supporting innovation and growth across the UK’s technology ecosystem.
