As part of a major investment programme in compound semiconductor science and technology, Cardiff University seeks a talented, motivated postdoctoral researcher with expertise in the metal organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD), III-V/Si integration and materials characterisation to join the School of Physics & Astronomy, associated with the Institute for Compound Semiconductors (ICS) and its related optoelectronics initiative.
The envisioned research will develop monolithic III-V-on-silicon integration enabled by selective area and template-assisted heteroepitaxy using MOCVD. Example applications include III-V lasers on silicon, quantum dot lasers and detectors, energy-efficient optical interconnects and silicon photonics platforms.
Candidates will have a PhD (nearing completion / submission) in Engineering, Physics or closely related subject focusing on III-V epitaxy for device applications. Hands-on experience in III-V growth as well as knowledge in optical/electrical characterisation techniques is essential. Individuals with knowledge of optoelectronic device physics and skills associated with device fabrication technology are highly desired. You will have a strong research record demonstrated through publications in high quality academic journals; experience participating in research proposals and research/industry-based groups with proven ability to network effectively with academics and outside academia.
This full-time post is full time and fixed term for 2 years.
Salary: £33,797 – £40,322 per annum (Grade 6)
